2006 Jimi Hendrix Gibson Custom Shop Hand Painted Flying V guitar

In 2006 the Gibson Custom Shop finally decided to reissue Jimi’s  iconic 1967 Gibson Flying “V” and this psychedelic instrument is one of only 300 individually numbered guitars ever made!! This mint, beautiful and unplayed immaculate instrument bears the unique number “JIMI 007” on the rear of the headstock.  All of the original paraphernalia that came with the guitar when new is in pristine condition and is included.

Hand painted by Master Luthier Bruce Kunkel , each instrument was numbered and this particular example – number 7 of the 300 bears the number “Jimi 007″. It truly represents the original V painted by Hendrix, mostly with his girlfriends nail polish!!   It comes in the original case and is in mint condition,  having never been played,  together with the original psychedelic strap. For the initiated the guitar has a mahogany body and neck, rosewood fretboard with 22 frets and two ‘57 PAF humbuckers. Since new it has been kept in a climatically controlled environment to ensure its perfect condition. An amazing find and a lovely instrument with the “007” number.  As a  keen musician and collector of rare guitars I have never seen a better example and perhaps with the number 007 conjures up more images of perhaps two cult heroes. Maybe the 007 is better than having 001?
